Booting into standard mode puts the SELinux subsystem into what is known as "permissive mode". SELinux denials will still be reported to the system log, but the operations will actually be allowed.

This mode is useful for troubleshooting SELinux problems, but for proper security should not be used on production systems connected to the internet.
